Tried to fight the feeling
But you have me reeling
Now I’ll never be lonely
Knowing you want me
Baby I want you
Want you know
I need you to know

I’m
Never going back (x3)
To lonely
I’m
Never going back (x3)
To lonely

I can’t describe it
And I’ve tried to hide it
But everything that I do
Draws me into you
The stars up above they, shine on our love
I want you to know

I’m
Never going back (x3)
To lonely
I’m
Never going back (x3)
To lonely

This is just how I feel
Baby you know it’s real
Do anything for you
Yes this much is true

(Never Going Back song lyrics)

There is something inexplicable about finding yourself in love unexpectedly. For many of us, the initial instinct of falling for a friend would probably be to run away and hide. by dating, no one wants to potentially ruin a friendship because they thought that it can be more than what it is, only for that fantasy to come crashing down. People say that good friends make the best lovers, but few address the fear of actually jumping into a union that stemmed from a friendship. I think Never Going Back is a song about a woman who has decided to take that dive. Picture a woman who has gone through all the hurt one can take in a relationship, and somewhere on that road, she met a man who became her friend and maybe even a confidante. This man was always there for her, through the highs and lows, and decides to shoot his shot at one point, probably when she was still healing from the past. After some time, she finally came around and decides that it’s worth the risk.

Never Going Back is definitely a declaration of love, and it was my very first soul trap composition, with music by beat_KRONICLEZ, an extremely talented beatmaker from my home country Zimbabwe. I am proud to have worked with him on my first soul track, and, being a 90s kid, this genre is very close to my heart. I love how the beat is uncomplicated, and the song structure itself is quite simple. This song was made for the casual sing-along, like a laid back date night, or even that first dance by the bride and groom at their wedding. The song is always a hit with crowds, even first-time listeners and that is something I believe a lot of artists love. It’s that connection that people make with your music that makes singing such a powerful, wonderful experience, especially when you get to perform it live. I hope to create more live music experiences with this song like I have been blessed to do before.
